We completely understand the need to reduce fraud in the benefits system. However, when it comes to lifelong or progressive disabilities, such as blindness, repeated reassessments feel unnecessary, stressful, and a waste of valuable resources.
At Blind Ambition, we see firsthand the challenges disabled people face every day. Living with a disability is hard enough without being forced to repeatedly prove the same condition over and over again.
Where’s the Common Sense?
If someone is blind, deaf, or has a permanent physical condition, it’s not going to suddenly improve unless there’s some miracle cure. So why does the DWP insist on reassessing people who have no chance of recovery?
These repeated assessments:
❌ Cause unnecessary stress for disabled individuals
❌ Waste time and money—both for claimants and the government
❌ Make people feel untrusted, dehumanised, and interrogated
We believe that a fairer system would take a common-sense approach, where disabilities that cannot improve are automatically exempt from reassessments.

A Smarter, More Compassionate System
Instead of wasting resources on pointless reassessments, the government should focus on:
✅ Targeting actual fraud, not making disabled people suffer
✅ Trusting medical evidence instead of endless reviews
✅ Making workplaces more accessible so fewer people need PIP in the first place
