National Eye Health Week 2025: Protecting Our Vision, Protecting Our Future

National Eye Health Week 22-28 Sept 2025

It’s National Eye Health Week (Monday 22 – Sunday 28 September 2025)!

This annual campaign shines a spotlight on the importance of looking after our eyes and recognising how sight loss can affect daily life. For blind and partially sighted people, the impact of vision loss is profound – from independence and confidence to employment and wellbeing.

Regular eye tests are vital. They are not just about checking whether you need glasses. An eye test can detect early signs of common eye conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, as well as underlying health issues like diabetes and high blood pressure. Catching these early can make all the difference in preventing avoidable sight loss.

This week, let’s take simple steps that can protect our vision and support those living with sight loss:
🔹 Book that overdue eye test – prevention and early action save sight.
🔹 Learn more about common eye conditions – knowledge helps us protect ourselves and others.
🔹 Support friends, family, and colleagues living with sight loss – understanding and accessibility change lives.

At Blind Ambition, we believe that healthy eyes mean a brighter outlook for everyone. But we also know that when sight loss does occur, the right support, opportunities, and inclusive environments ensure that blind and partially sighted people can thrive.

As Seema Flower reminds us:

“Looking after our eyes is not just about vision – it’s about wellbeing, independence, and dignity. Together we can make sure no one is left behind because of sight loss.”

Let’s make eye health a priority – this week, and every week. 👓💙
