British Sign Language Heading To UK Classrooms

It’s wonderful to hear about the recent progress in the education system, particularly the introduction of sign language as an option for GCSE.

Gov.UK recently reported, “The responses have helped ensure the content is knowledge-rich, diverse in teaching, and challenging. Students who take this GCSE will learn to communicate effectively with other signers in work, social, and academic settings and will possess valuable life skills.”

Here at BlindAmbition, we hope this option becomes even more widely available, encompassing all areas of visual impairment and diversity.

The photo accompanying this description highlights the opportunity for secondary school pupils to complete their GCSE in sign language. The image depicts a person wearing a green shirt, with their face not visible, while using their hands to communicate through sign language.
