At Blind Ambition, we believe that connection, shared knowledge, and community support are essential for improving opportunities for blind and partially sighted people. For this reason, we are delighted to announce that our Working Age Forum has officially been renamed the Blind Ambition Forum (BAF).
The new name reflects something important: our forum is not limited by age or employment status. It is a welcoming space for anyone who is blind or partially sighted who would like to connect with others, share experiences, learn from experts, and support one another.
Whether you are working, looking for employment, retired, studying, or simply interested in meeting others within the visually impaired community, the Blind Ambition Forum is open to you.
Why We Changed the Name
When the forum was first launched, the Working Age Forum aimed primarily to support people of working age navigating employment and independence.
Over time, however, the conversations grew broader and richer. Participants began sharing experiences about:

managing benefits and financial support

accessing technology and accessibility tools

maintaining independence and wellbeing

finding community and friendship
It became clear that the forum had evolved into something more inclusive and community-focused.
Renaming the forum to the Blind Ambition Forum better reflects what it has become: a supportive, welcoming space where blind and partially sighted people can learn from one another and from guest experts.
This Month’s Forum: Cost of Living Support
Our next session will focus on a topic affecting many households across the UK — the cost of living.
Guest Speaker: Jan Foster
We are delighted to welcome Jan Foster, who brings more than 24 years of experience in the disability sector.
Jan currently works as a Living Well with Sight Loss Co-ordinator with RNIB, supporting people with sight loss through both eye clinic services and community programmes. Prior to this role, she spent 14 years working with Scope, helping people with disabilities move into employment and develop greater independence.
Jan will share practical guidance on managing finances and accessing support.
