Building inclusion, opportunity, and community for visually impaired and partially sighted professionals.

Happy Global Entrepreneurship Week!

Global Entrepreneurship Week (17–23 November 2025) celebrates innovators and changemakers who use enterprise to make the world a better place. At Blind Ambition, this celebration is close to our heart — not just because we are a social enterprise, but because our work is founded on one woman’s vision to create equality of opportunity for blind and partially sighted people everywhere.

A Visionary Mission

Led by Managing Director Seema Flower, Blind Ambition has grown from a bold idea into a national movement. Seema’s entrepreneurial journey began with her own lived experience of sight loss and her determination to break down the barriers that too often prevent visually impaired and partially sighted people from entering or thriving in employment.

Her mission is clear: to tackle the 75% unemployment rate among visually impaired people — the highest of any disability group in the UK — by connecting talented jobseekers with inclusive employers and building a professional network that empowers individuals to succeed.

Through her leadership, Blind Ambition has become much more than a recruitment platform. It’s a thriving community and a catalyst for change.

“Entrepreneurship is not just about building businesses — it’s about building futures. When we remove barriers and open doors for blind and partially sighted people, we unlock talent, confidence, and possibility. That is the heart of Blind Ambition.” — Seema Flower

The Power of Connection

With over 150 members in the Blind Ambition Community, we are proud to provide a welcoming space where visually impaired and partially sighted people can connect, share advice, and access employment support. Our growing Professional Network brings together jobseekers, advocates, and employers who share a commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

One of our most successful initiatives is the Working Age Forum (WAF) — a monthly online event that creates space for connection, learning, and growth. Held on the second Tuesday of each month, WAF welcomes participants who are working, job seeking, or running their own business. It has already attracted more than 120 participants, many of whom join to share experiences and gain insights from guest speakers on topics such as assistive technology, Access to Work, self-employment, tax advice, health and wellbeing, and independent mobility.

Guest experts, industry professionals, and Seema herself all contribute to lively and supportive discussions. This blend of peer support and professional knowledge creates an environment where members can learn practical skills while developing confidence and community.

Supporting Employment Through Learning and Collaboration

Blind Ambition’s commitment to professional growth extends beyond forums. Earlier this year, we delivered a free six-week LinkedIn Information Course, tailored specifically for visually impaired participants. The sessions covered key topics such as personal branding, content creation, and profile optimisation, helping participants strengthen their online presence and job search strategies.

In addition, our Employment Subgroup in the WhatsApp Community provides one-to-one guidance and signposting to essential services. Members can access help with assistive technology, digital skills, mental wellbeing, and employment coaching. This hands-on, collaborative approach ensures that everyone has the opportunity to progress — whether they are taking their first steps into employment or looking to advance in their careers.

A Community Built on Shared Vision

Entrepreneurship isn’t only about starting businesses — it’s about solving problems and creating value for others. At Blind Ambition, this spirit runs through everything we do. Each conversation, training session, and partnership is guided by a belief that inclusion and innovation go hand in hand.

As we celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, we also celebrate Seema’s remarkable leadership and the strength of our growing community. Together, we are building a future where visually impaired and partially sighted people have equal access to employment, opportunity, and success.

Whether you are a jobseeker, an inclusive employer, or a passionate advocate, there’s a place for you in the Blind Ambition network.
