Job description
Runner-up in the Education category at the Charity Awards 2019, RNIB Bookshare is a fast-growing, free online resource that provides UK curriculum and leisure materials in a wide range of accessible digital formats that can be adapted to suit the personal reading needs of learners with print-disabilities, giving them equal and independent access alongside that of their peers.
The service provides publishers with a single point of contact, enabling them to make their accessible files available to print-disabled learners - and the educators supporting them – quickly and in a cost-efficient manner.
The service works with publishers and content providers to improve their workflows to ensure books reach learners more quickly, but also to encourage and advise on the creation of born accessible content.
You will join the RNIB Bookshare team, as a trainee, in an exciting period of rapid growth and change, delivering an exemplary service of providing accessible education and leisure titles to support the needs of learners with print-disabilities. You will gain the skills required to support the expansion of RNIB Bookshare’s rapidly growing collection, building networks and publisher partnerships.
You will work alongside your colleagues and team leader, developing strong skills in customer engagement and interaction, with students, staff and content providers; ensuring you play a key role in delivering an excellent user experience for our customers.
You will be supported in co-ordinating the expansion of the service to new customers and publishers, helping to grow our reach across the education and publishing sectors.
With a keen interest in accessibility and education, you will have first-hand experience and an appreciation of the issues faced by people with sight loss. You'll be prepared to work as part of a multi-skilled team to contribute to the development of the RNIB Bookshare Service and grow our reach at both a customer and stakeholder level.
